Projekt DOM.ov offers more than housing
In October, three families from the village Bôrka were finishing construction work on their houses. In a short time they will approve their buildings and moving into a new homes. The Projekt DOM.ov has been part of the life stories of these three brave families since 2018. The builders went through a long preparation for construction. In the begining, it was necessary to prepare building plots, save money regularly and take a part on education. In 2020, the pandemic slowed down all preparations and it already seemed that the construction project in Bôrka would be lost. However, our three families struggled. In order to get a loan, they need to have a stable income. A social worker went through their life situation with each family and helped them solve debts and employment.
The story of our client Soňa is unique. By joining with the Projekt DOM.ov, she gained not only a roof over her head, but also a job. Thanks to the inclusive neighborhoods project, she got a job in the partner organization OZ Cesta von. Currently, she works in her community as an omama, who takes care of Roma children under the age of three, and runs a mother’s club. Soňa started to study for her new job. The training takes place outside of her community, she is forced to travel and thus get to know another world outside of Bôrka. Soňa’s life took a completely different direction, she gained life stability and the job she had longed for. However, the stories of builders from Bôrka don’t end, six more families are preparing for the second phase of self-help construction of family houses.
